What is family support?

In the Pudsey Cluster we provide Family Support Services to families across Farsley, Pudsey, Calverley, Tyersal and Swinnow.

Parenting can be a very rewarding experience but it can also be hugely challenging. As our children grow and develop, their needs and behaviour change. Sometimes it can be difficult to keep pace with these changes and there are times when we may need a bit of extra help-from family, friends, community and elsewhere.

The Family Support Team delivers this support either in the home, at school or in community settings. We aim to provide a personalised support service which encourages and empowers parents to overcome barriers which may impact on the lives and learning of their children. We can help in areas like budgeting, family relationships, housing, parenting strategies, etc. We support families:

• On a 1:1 basis
• Through support groups
• Through Parenting programmes
• To access other support services
• Age 5-19 years
• Under 5’s via Children’s Centres

Parenting programmes include:

All our groups are FREE for all parents in the Pudsey Cluster. They are informal, fun and informative packed with evidence-based ideas to help families with the most difficult job in the world.

For any parent with a child between the ages of 4 and 12 years’ old

Coffee Morning: Friday 15^th September 9.15am – 11.15am

Group Starts:

Friday 22^nd September 9.15am – 11.15am for 12 weeks (term time only)

Family Links – The ‘Nurture’ Programme

For any parent who would like to further support the emotional health and well-being of their child/children of any age

Wednesday 4^th October 12.30pm – 2.30pm for 10 weeks (term time only)
